"Light UP Lives Charity"
UCSI University holds its annual academic Awards Day or Hari Anugerah Bestari every year to motivate students to achieve their utmost in academia. The event which took place at the Multi Purpose Hall, on 23 September 2010 saw a total of 857 students receiving a multitude of awards. The award honors students for the 2009/10 academic year which was witnessed by proud parents, friends, relatives and lecturers.
The open ceremony kicked off with a performance titled “1Malaysia, 1UCSI, 1Family”. The performance was a dance showing the relationship of 1 Malaysia performed by UCSI students from all races.

In his speech UCSI University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Robert Bong congratulated awardees for their hard work, determination and academic excellence. At UCSI University, we pride ourselves in pushing our students to reach their full potential although not always an easy task and often requiring personal sacrifice but achieving academic excellence is a feat well worth it.
“Education is only one aspect in developing as human beings. It is only when we have taken what we have learned in the classroom and applied it to real life we can truly say we understand the concept” he said.
He also reminded the students that the awards received today are only reminders of what they can achieve if they set their minds to it. Talent will only take us so far but it is through hard work and motivation that we reach our true potential.

In his speech, the Director of the Education Marketing Division of the Department of Higher Education and guest of honor, Yang Berbahagia Dr. Syed Alwee bin Alsagoff, also congratulated each and every recipient for their demonstrated success which qualified them for the respective awards. He said, to be the leaders of tomorrow; we will need to ride the crest of the technological wave to remain at its forefront.
In this exciting new era of educational transformation, this track record of educational excellence we will not be able to “cut it” in the real world if we do not move beyond mindsets which limit, confine and restrict us. We will need to be bold, dare to break new grounds and to trespass old boundaries.
