Time really flies; we will soon be saying good bye to 2009 and ready to welcome 2010. And Frontiers has come a long way from taking infant

steps in May 2009 to producing six issues to date.
In the last four months having these crazy kids with me has been fun and educational as well. We learn from each other, share ideas and we even started our very own book club by swapping books, starting with the ones we featured on this website.
In the last six months we have covered anything and everything that was news worthy, you name it and we covered it, well at least we tried.
In Highlights we talked about literally everything, from ‘love, death and everything in between’. We focused on celebrations but it was always from the point of view of those not directly celebrating these occasions which gave the articles a different feel. We pondered on the 1Malaysia concept, discussed about Merdeka and even wondered about 2012!
We even wrote one last love letter to the King of Pop and celebrated the teachers who taught us… no matter how hard.

The DPM and me during SSLA's Deeparaya celebrations
In Campus Talk we featured Sarawak Campus and the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Built Environment. We also attributed picture stories on the traditional kolum and Deeparaya celebrations from the School of Social Science and Liberal Arts. So Deans and Associate Deans, we will wait for you to grant us these interviews in order to feature your respective faculties.
Happenings saw the coverage of events on and off campus. We participated in open debates with our counterparts from Bar Council, we joined in the Human Rights Week here on campus and we walked for world peace during the World March Kuala Lumpur 2009.
We covered concerts for exhibitions as well as for charity. We sang together with our Indonesian friends to raise funds for Padang victims of West Sumatera and we were proud to cover the book launch ‘Kenangan Sepanjang Jalan’ by our very own Tan Sri Chancellor.
In Leisure & Lifestyle, we provided food, book, movie, album reviews and even the hottest gadgets in town. For 2010 there will definitely be

Yes, we have achieved a substantial reputation in a short period of time. But it didn’t come easy, it was a lot of work, sweat and blood just to prove that we were good enough to exist. And we have made our mark here and as a community and beyond the boundaries of the University.
To the Frontier community, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. For new Frontier members, welcome to our very own on-line newspaper – The Frontiers – a university project brought to you by our Journalism majors from the B.A. (Hons) in Mass Communications.
Last but not least, for the Frontier journalists – Wai Ting, Yogee, Cherry, Hamza, Nandy, Sue Ann and Sabrina, I would like to thank you all for the help in building up Frontiers. It has been a fun journey and a memorable one. And we will certainty forge on to make Frontiers better or die trying.
Have a good read everybody, ‘Long Live Journalists’ and have a Happy Gregorian New Year!
