"The Road to Menara Gading and Back"
Sometimes, we like the occasional meal out to escape from the monotony of life. Most of the time, we opt for cheap hawker food - after all, the best things in life come free or cheap right? I, however, like splurging some cash on food once in a while, and this time my best friend and I chose to pay a visit to The Daily Grind, a western joint serving good ol’ American food - the posh style.
Located in Bangsar Village, Kuala Lumpur, The Daily Grind (hereon TDG) is an apt name for the restaurant, as it has a very old-fashioned country feel to it. My best friend even said it feels like home, which is the best compliment any restaurant can get, in my opinion!
TDG serves the usual suspects like fish & chips, spaghetti and meatballs and burgers, but with a gourmet twist. TDG is best known for its burgers and believes in cooking their meat patties to juicy perfection, which means medium rare, so if you are someone who likes meat to be well-done, it would be good to inform them in advance.
The food we had was delicious and rich - so much so that we had trouble finishing the meal, even though we consider ourselves big eaters. The starter was Garlic Bread, which were French baguettes lightly toasted with garlic butter… definitely tasted as yummy as it sounds! My Classic Chicken burger had a nice layer of extra mozzarella topping (on my request, whadya think?) and I like the way the meat patty was cooked to perfection. My best friend’s Southern Fried Chicken was a massive meal of a breaded chicken quarter, with mash potatoes and salad.
Although the food was a tad pricey (RM109 for two people) it was well worth the money and the drive to Bangsar, and we will definitely visit this place again, for another stomach-busting meal of sinful delights!
