Mega projects mark 25th Silver Jubilee

Five mega infrastructures are to be built by UCSI University in a span of the next five years.

USCI Group, the umbrella organisation of UCSI University plans to build a medical centre, an international school and an International Resort and Convention Centre, all in Bandar Springhill, Negeri Sembilan which is Datuk Peter Ng’s hometown.

There are also plans to build five-star hotels in Cheras, Kuching and Port Dickson. All these plans will be executed throughout the next five years amounting to a total investment of a whopping RM1.13 billion!

From humble beginnings with its inception in 1986 as the Canada Institute of Computer Science to becoming a full-fledged university in 2008, UCSI has surely come a long way.

event celebrations of the 25th anniversary were well on the way.

Events included the first ever Alumni Homecoming Dinner (January), a public carnival and concert (May), an international Jazz festival (November) and a Gala Dinner on the 13th May 2012 to mark the end of the celebrations. He also added that there would be public lectures, exhibitions and performances throughout the duration.

As Datuk Peter Ng presented the Groups upcoming mega projects, he also thanked the team and staff who work hard to bring the about the success. “The last 25 years have not been an easy path for us but through faith, tough times never last, only tough people do” he said.

Datuk Peter Ng also announced that UCSI University has been appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education to lead a government initiative aimed at developing human capital for the nation’s hospitality and tourism industry. This is a project under the Entry Point Projects (EPP 10).

Through this project, it is hoped to strengthen Malaysia’s economy and develop it into a high-income nation by year 2020 under the 12 National Key Economic Areas (NKEA).

It is also hoped that with the coming of age for UCSI University, it will be able to provide better for the students, staff and community.

Other dignitaries that graced the occasion were UCSI University Chancellor, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Abdul Rahman Arshad, UCSI University Council Chairman, Yang Berbahagia Tan Seri Datuk Seri Dr Musa Mohamad and UCSI University Foundation Chairman, Datuk Dr Haji Karim Haji Abdullah Omar.
