Middle Eastern cuisine anyone?

News Article

Hmm… what to have for dinner? Where to go for dinner? Sound like familiar scenarios? Those were exactly the thoughts going through my head while flipping the newspapers on one particular weekend. A palace-like picture caught my eye, because it looked more like an amusement park rather than a restaurant!

So I went to try the food, not entirely knowing that it was a Lebanese Restaurant. Not being fluent in Arabic, the name Al-Rawsha did not register any acknowledgment of anything… besides it was Sunday, the day when my brain vegetates!

Lamb Mandy

The menu has an assortment of food ranging from cold to hot appetizers, ice cream and sweets, seafood and bbq to kebsa and mandy. I know, most of them don’t sound familiar to us, might sound familiar to Maher Zain thou. Looking at the menu invited laughter when the kids tried to pronounce the Arabic version of the food.

When the amusement finally subsided, we managed to order. We tried the Lamb Mandy, a dish with traditional Hadramaut earth baked rice with lamb. This dish was served with gravy and naan bread. The rice alone even without the accessories was already delicious.

Halap Kebab

The Halap Kebab made from minced meat, onions and crushed chilies came in pita bread. Although it didn’t exactly look appetizing, did taste good but a bit spicy for the kids. The lamb chops were, I felt a bit dry as I prefer mine medium rare. But I gathered that it was the Lebanese style of preparing it. Oh yes, the kebab and lamb chops also came with a serving of naan bread.

So if you have a fancy for Middle Eastern food, have a try. There are many more to sample from the menu. The other good thing about this restaurant, it also delivers!

Maybe the next time I’m there I’ll try the Al Rawsha cocktail that many patrons were trying. Must have been fine since they consumed bottles of it… hmmm
