Miri, 3rd October 2009 – UCSI University, Sarawak Campus has done it again – another hotel chain under the belt is just what is needed to further stamp its establishment in Sarawak as an institution specialising in hospitality and tourism management programmes. The university yesterday made partners with Value Hospitality Hotels & Resorts Management Company through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Parkcity Everly Hotel Miri.
Present at the MoU signing were Parkcity General Manager John Augustin, Faculty of Hospitality & Management Associate Dean Gracie Geikie, and UCSI University, Sarawak Campus Chief Operating Officer Lu Huong Ying.
The MoU is to establish Parkcity Everly Hotel as a co-operative placement (Co-Op) partner to UCSI University. Through this programme, UCSI University will be able to send students to Parkcity to be trained on hotel operations, as well as to develop their skills and expand their experience in the hospitality industry. Students will be trained to handle events and functions organised at the hotel.
Housing international and local leisure and business guests, as well as playing host to one of Sarawak’s premier events, the Miri International Jazz Festival, Parkcity Everly Hotel Miri is an upper class resort in Miri. Its central location is a mere five-minute drive from the city centre and 8 kilometers from the Miri International Airport. This makes it a primary option for those who have short stays in Miri and wish to be close to the airport as well as town, and thus its operations must be in the hands of those capable of creating a warm and memorable stay for its guests.
Parkcity Everly Hotel Miri is managed by the Value Hospitality Hotels and Resorts Management Company. The hotel makes guests its top priority at all times, ensuring a pleasant and comfortable stay always.
UCSI University, Sarawak Campus is the first institution in Sarawak to be fully focused on hospitality courses up to the degree level, and also one of the first to become partners with Parkcity Everly Hotel and its Value Hospitality Group. The university is also the first that is extensively linked to many of the major hospitality industry players in Sarawak.
Courses offered at UCSI University, Sarawak Campus are Event and Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Commerce (with majors in International Business, Industrial Relations, and Retail Management), Foundation Studies and GCE A-Levels.
