Explaining details of their club
UCSI University’s Clubs Week is an event that is held with the start of every new semester. This time the two-day event was held at both the North and South Wing on the 19th and 20th January respectively.
The Clubs Week saw around 28 participants as compared to last year which was only 22 clubs. So things are looking good for the students as they have a wider choice of clubs that cater to their interests.
The clubs were determined to attract the students to sign up. Some displayed attractive signboards and past events to grab students’ attention. Some even used presentations to show their clubs activities.

Pet Lovers Club brought dogs to attract new members
Certain clubs like Anime & Manga, Arts and Crafts, Psychology and Pet Lovers, went all out to attract new members. The Anime & Manga Club displayed figurines and Gunpla model kits, while Arts and Crafts Club displayed hand-made crafts. The Psychology Club created a Memory Test and gave out prizes to those who ‘remembered’, while the Pet Lovers Club brought dogs to attract dog lovers to join their club.
The first day at North Wing did not get much attention but the turnout on the second day at the South Wing; saw a huge leap in the numbers who checked out what the clubs had to offer.

Huge crowd at South Wing campus
Based on the crowd, students from the North Wing campus showed less interest and less initiative to join the clubs compared to those from the South Wing. That could be one of the reasons why some clubs were already on the verge of phasing out, and had to put in double effort to recruit new members.
Singing gigs took place in both campuses to entertain the crowd during the event. “You Raise Me Up” and “Pride and Joy” were presented by two bands comprising of UCSI students. Although it was just a short line-up of songs, they did a good job in getting the crowd’s attention to join in the activities.
The Student Council of UCSI University had evidently organized this event well because it had successfully attracted students to sign up for their favorite clubs, and at the same time giving more exposure to extra curriculum activities which helps to enhance every student’s university experience.
