When Good Friends Go Bad

News Article

I have had many precious moments with my good friends, but author Ellie Campbell made me realize how important those precious friendships really are with her book When Good Friends Go Bad, where four good friends named Jen, Georgina, Meg and Rowan turn from inseparable good friends to becoming strangers to each other. The story of how things went from a childish prank to their friendship being torn apart was told by the four individuals, who relate the story exactly how they remembered it, full of bitter and sweet memories.

Their friendship is the reason I loved this book, because the twist and turns that they go through in their friendship is so clear and true. 3764196225_6403f2365aNot only did they make me see the things they see, they make me feel the things they feel. There is a lot more going on than just a normal friendship dispute, like Starkey’s sudden appearance in their lives and Meg’s test results for the lump.

A man called Starkey was Jen’s childhood sweetheart. No news was heard about him since the day he stood up on Jen at the railways station. The mystery about Starkey slowly unfolds to Jen when they meet during their reunion organized by Rowan.

At the reunion, Rowan never turned up, Meg acted weird and Georgina’s secret was revealed. The mystery about Rowan’s disappearance is just one of the reasons you want to keep flipping the pages to find out what happen When Good Friends Go Bad.

Meg, Jen, Georgina and Rowan had an English teacher named Tom Dugan, who also taught drama classes after school. Tom was popular among the staffs and students when they were in school. During the reunion dinner at Ashport, he showed up and even flirted with Jen. The foursome was in a surprise when they found out his dark secret.

When Good Friends Go Bad is filled with interesting characters like Tom and Rowan, making them all seem just as real as the people in surrounding you. Starkey and Tom are all interesting, but the most important character in the book is Rowan. You get the idea that Rowan is missing, either died or just vanished into thin air because every method her friends try in tracing Rowan ends up as a dead end.

Truth revealed, old friendships rekindled and love sparkles starting to burn once again, that’s why When Good Friends Go Bad seems true, and why it all seems so real.

Even though the story is about adults, you get the idea that parts of it could happen anytime at a point in our lives, at any age where people learn to forgive and forget the past.

In a true friendship a friend stands by you through stick and stone. But if you want to know what these four friends finally decided on their friendship and what happens to Starky and Tom and the rest of the people who live When Good Friends Go Bad, you’ll have to read the book!
